Week Two Begins!

The first week of the official drinking season has come to an end. It is now time to unveil our new drink for the current week. We know we're a little late, but we are drunks and that makes us terrible timekeepers. However, because this has to do with our passion in life, we sincerely apologize and we'll promise to do our best to be on time with next week's drink, unless we're drunk again, then we promise to at least try to apologize in a timely manner. On a side note, stay tuned for our review of Whiskey Fest, which will be posted in the near future on our Booze Reviews web page.

Well, hopefully everyone enjoyed the primate mammary we served up last week. For this week we thought we'd class it up a bit with a drink that is both enjoyable and very simple to make.

Now, without further ado, we give you...

WEEK 2:

Godfather
2 ounces scotch or bourbon
1 ounce amaretto

Pour all ingredients into a shaker full of ice and shake vigorously. Strain the mixture into an ice-filled old-fashioned glass and enjoy.

This drink is delicious and provides a slight kick. And, of course, it goes well with Godfather part I through III. We've tried both the scotch and the bourbon versions, and although we leaned more toward the bourbon concoction, both were very tasty. Our suggestion is to try both and see which version you like better. Now, for amaretto, we suggest you use Di Saronno, but any kind will do. For the scotch version we used Glenlivet, a 12-year-old, single malt scotch, which provided a very smooth, even flavor. For the bourbon version, we used Maker's Mark, which gave it a little extra kick in the flavor department.

I was working late and didn't even know I needed a drink until I found your site. I just tried it with Di Sarronno and Rowan Creek. It's delicious! I threw a Maraschino cherry in to keep an ice cube company. Not a bad addition if I do say so myself. See you next week!

We're glad you stumbled upon our blog at such a thirsty moment. We appreciate the comment and for including the recipe you enjoyed. A maraschino cherry you say? That's just crazy enough to work.
      Cheers,
