Behold...
The south's answer to the long island ice tea.
WEEK 11:
Alabama Slammer
1 ounces Southern Comfort
1 ounces amaretto
1/2 ounce sloe gin
Dash of fresh lemon juice
Maraschino cherry
Lemon Slice
Shake the ingredients with ice, strain into an ice-filled glass, and add a lemon wedge with a cherry on top.
This southern drink, like Lynyrd Skynyrd, rocks! There are several different recipes floating around, but in our opinion they should be left where they were found—in college. This is the working man's version, which is perfect for quenching a thirst and beating the summer heat. For our version we added a little extra booze and a little extra rock and roll, which is not normally recommended (the booze not the rock and roll), but we're professionals. Also, we nixed the cherry on top, mainly because there were none within arms reach; however, that missing cherry may have made all the difference. Experiment with a few different versions and let us know which ones you like best. Now, crank up some Skynyrd, mix up a drink, and enjoy the summer heat because "Lord, I'm coming home to you."
