The McMorning After...

It's been a long week. Only a week? Maybe more. You don't remember. What do you remember? A toilet bowl. A slap in the face. A hazy memory of singing karaoke in front of a cheering crowd. You sang your heart out. What was the song again?
It's Raining Men
?
Y. M.C.A., maybe? Who was the construction worker who kept bumping into you? Take heart brother. You need to stop the memories. Stem the tide of regrets rising to drown you and prepare an eye opener that will soothe your conscience with a gentle, familiar haze.

WEEK 24:

Iced Irish Coffee

1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey
1 teaspoon brown sugar
4 ounces cold coffee
1 to 2 ounces heavy cream

Combine the whiskey and brown sugar in a chilled old-fashioned glass, and stir. Add ice, then coffee, then cream, and stir again.

As always, don't waste the best whiskey in a cocktail, but make sure it's Irish if you want to regain your pride. Swill Tullamore Dew or the formidable Powers if you have it. Your taste buds are dulled, listless—-you need to revive them with the sweet, the bitter, and the familiar before you tuck into a hearty breakfast of salt and grease. Toast your demons, friend, and bid them farewell with a bit of luck from the Emerald Isle.
