Cold Month Cure
This drink is a winter favorite of ours, and no we are not 80-year-old women, either. You may knock this drink, but when you catch that winter chill that creeps deep into your bones, don't come crying to us. Plus, we're secure enough in our drinking abilities to know that although this drink catches some flak, it still deserves a spot in our drinking Rolodex (people still use those, right?).
WEEK 34:
Whiskey Hot Toddy
Lemon slice
1 teaspoon granulated or brown sugar (or honey)
Pinch of grated or ground nutmeg
1 1/2 ounces bourbon (or Irish whiskey)
6 ounces boiling water
Tea bag of your choice (not that kind, pervert)
1 cinnamon stick
Drop the lemon slice into a warmed mug. Add the sugar (or honey), nutmeg, bourbon (or Irish whiskey), and the tea bag. Pour the boiling water over the ingredients and let sit for a few minutes. Stir with the cinnamon stick and enjoy!
Not only is this a great way to shake a chill, but it's also an inconspicuous way to enjoy some booze. Here's a tip, if you take public transportation to work, make a Toddy early in the a.m. and then toss it in a thermos and enjoy it throughout the workday. This tip actually works anytime and anywhere, just avoid operating heavy machinery. We'll let you decide what "heavy machinery" means. Cheers!
