Holy dessert, Batman!
How many times have you finished dinner and, although you were full, gorged yourself on piles of sugar (aka dessert)? Well, screw dessert. I've never liked dessert and neither should you. Why? Because there are countless ways to fill that sweet-void without shoveling (ladies, listen to this I'm both sensitive and I'm looking out for your well-being) sweet calories into your mouth that create big butts and weird shaped bellies. Well, this drink kills two birds with one stone. It satisfies your sweet tooth without a crapload of calories (I have no idea if the second part is true, but just go with it) and your boozy craving, too. Plus, there's something about using fresh ingredients in a drink, even if it's just freshly ground nutmeg on top that makes it taste so much better.
WEEK 43:
Bourbon Milk Punch
2 ounces bourbon (we used Maker's Mark)
1/2 ounce dark creme de cacao
4 ounces milk (or 3 ounces half-and-half)
Dash of vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Freshly grated or ground nutmeg
Shake the liquid ingredients and cinnamon with ice. Strain into an ice-filled glass and top with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
When I throw my next dinner party, if I ever throw a dinner party, this will be served before dinner, as a substitute for dinner, as an after-dinner drink, and perhaps a nightcap, as well. Then we'll all get naked and play with each other. What, you've never been to a dinner party like that? Prudes. This truly is a very interesting drink. It tastes and looks far more gourmet than the effort expended to make it. I mean you splash a few ingredients together in a shaker, do the shaker dance, sprinkle some nutmeg on top, and enjoy. In addition to tasting delicious, it packs a bit of a punch (pun totally intended). Not like Hawaiian Punch where that crazy little red-headed bastard smacks unsuspecting drinkers in the face as they enjoy his beverage. Admittedly it's kind of a strange marketing strategy. I mean, when we sell some t-shirts we do not punch our customers in the face. Nor, do we punch our fellow readers/participants after unveiling the new drink of our 52-week marathon of consumption. Am I off topic? Perhaps, but I'm just elated from the dinner party I just had in my mouth. Cheers!

Well, let us be the first to say to you, New Orleans, you've got great taste. Perhaps we'll have to take a road trip to The Big Easy.
Cheers,
