Viva la Mexico!

I was wracking my brain as to what drink I should use to escape this dreary winter day, when I looked outside and noticed an all too familiar picture—snow, again. Winter and I haven't been on the best of terms lately. I'm just not that in to it anymore. Now this particular winter may have had something to do with my increasing hatred toward this terrible season. It seems as if everyday it's more of the same: f'n cold with 100 percent chance of shitty weather. I just need a break. That's when it clicked. I may not be able to fast forward the season, but I can use a drink to simulate a change in season.

WEEK 46:

South of the Border

1/2 lime
1 ounce tequila
3/4 ounce Kahlua

Squeeze the lime half into a chilled glass, and then drop it in. Fill with ice, pour in the booze, and stir.

For this summer drink I used Leyenda del Milagro Tequila and Kahlua. There's just something about a mixed drink with tequila as its base that screams summer. That all too familiar whiff you get right before you take a swig, which instantly reminds you of warm weather, ladies in bikinis, and drunken days on a beach. Plus, it's nice that the recipe called for half a lime because that guarantees I'll be making a second trip this evening to visit our neighbors to the south. Now, here I am sitting in my heated apartment with the shades pulled tight, a warm-weather drink in one hand, some summer tunes in the background, and a piƱata hanging from my ceiling. So, while winter rages on outside, tonight I'm vacationing South of the Border.
