Kiss me, I'm Irish!

With St. Patty's day upon us, what better way to celebrate than with the sweet kiss of booze!

WEEK 50:

Blarney Stone

2 ounces Irish whiskey
1/4 ounce Cointreau
1/4 ounce absinthe substitute (Pernod or anisette)
Dash of maraschino liqueur
Dash of Angostura bitters
Lemon twist

Stir the liquid ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Run the lemon peel around the rim, twist it over the drink, and drop it in.

It's rumored that by kissing the Blarney Stone, you'll be blessed with eloquent speech. However, I have it on good authority that homeless men and drunks alike relieve themselves nightly on the very stone that so many have pressed their lips to. Now, this may or may not be true (we've seen it done and we've done it ourselves), but I think you'd be better off getting your "eloquent" speech from the cocktail this year, and not the urine-soaked stone. For the Irish whiskey we opted for Michael Collins blend, but we substituted the Cointreau with Triple Sec and we used anisette as the absinthe substitute. Feel free to try a few different versions, or just have more of the same, because today, everyone's Irish! From all of us at ScapeGoat Ink, have a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day!
